Re: Roy Hodgson to leave Palace at the end of the season
Roy's a good bloke and had a more successful career than most outside the very top echelon.

Lampard's propensity to blame others in post match interviews and his refusal to give opposition managers / teams credit when it was due has contributed to him not being nearly as popular as some think. He's not good enough to manage a PL team, including Palace, and if he didn't have such a raging ego he's have realised that taking the Chelsea job was a complete farce.

Old bloke has a reasonable season with a nowhere club.

People think he's too old.

Good. Hope they get someone who puts them where they belong.

Outside the top flight.

Eddie Howe has the Palace job. Chunky Frank ain’t trading down. He’s saving himself for the Tottenham gig.

ha ha
So which are these 'neutral' teams whose fans love Lampard?
Not West Ham ... or Spurs
Or probably Liverpool with all that 'ghost goal' stuff
Arsenal not keen either so lets exclude them as not neutral.
And Man Utd. Fulham too you'd say.
Might be quicker to tell us who IS neutral and loves Lampard

Re: Roy Hodgson to leave Palace at the end of the season
If you take the World Cup Semi Final run out of Robson's reign it was bumpy to say the least and the 88 Euro's was a total disaster.

Didn't even qualify for the 84 Euros, under Robson.

That Iceland game was comedy gold....given there was untold Yids in the boozer. Not as funny as those thinking he should have picked Noble over Drinkwater though.

Irrelevant comment about a team game. Plenty of shit players have PL winners medals.

Re: Roy Hodgson to leave Palace at the end of the season
It was his attitude after that Iceland game that changed my opinion of him completely. Refused to show any contrition or provide any explanation for that absolute shambles of a performance. I think fans would like to have understood some of the decisions, like Harry Kane taking corners.

To be fair to Drinkwater he has a PL medal

What the fuck has Noble won

With all due respect

Picked Danny Drinkwater ahead of Mark Noble for England. He can go fuck himself.

Re: Roy Hodgson to leave Palace at the end of the season
Good Club Managers have had a tough time of it with England. Graham Taylor was successful with Watford but had a disaster with England and if you take the World Cup Semi Final run out of Robson's reign it was bumpy to say the least and the 88 Euro's was a total disaster. Likewise with Ron Greenwood as England only just made it to Spain 82.

Oh he won the Swedish league in 1976 and 1979.

People on here seem to look up to failures quite a bit.

Re: Roy Hodgson to leave Palace at the end of the season
He was absolute dogshit as England manager and we were an embarrassing disgrace under him in 2014 and 2016. He inherited Capello's squad last minute in 2012 and did reasonably but it was woefully downhill from then on.

Glenn Rodent 7:38 Tue May 18
Re: Roy Hodgson to leave Palace at the end of the season
It is shameful to say that Roy Hodgson is a shit manager.

He is in fact the complete opposite. A brilliant man Manager, an excellent defensive tactician and an extremely nice guy. He one of the last of a dying breed, a real football man.

He is highly regarded all across Europe, similar to Bobby Robson. He has had success pretty much everywhere he has been apart from Liverpool and England and that is because of his 'catenaccio' philosophy, which is the Italian style.

With Liverpool and England, you are expected to play on the front foot and win. But this just isn't his style and so both suffered because of it.

Anyone in football who knows something about football will tell you that Roy Hodgson is a top coach.

As Englishmen and English football fans, we should be proud of people like Hodgson. He went abroad, learnt languages fluently and was hugely influential in developing the game of football in other countries such as Sweden.

You have to give credit where credit is due. In his current job at Palace, he has done an unbelieveable job. And to bow out on his own terms is a wonderful achievement that most Managers don't get to do.

He deserves massive respect and whoever comes in next at Palace has big shoes to fill.
